Puffy and Tammy, two little Southdown lambs, arrived in our care after a kind-hearted passer-by found them alone on a quiet dirt road and brought them somewhere safe.
From the moment they arrived, it was clear their tiny bodies had already endured more than they should have. Both girls were suffering from barber’s pole worm and were lacking in body condition, signs that their start in life had been a difficult one. We don’t know how long they had been without their mum, only that they were incredibly weak when they first came into care.
But sometimes, with kindness, patience and good food, small miracles begin to unfold.
Puffy, the smaller of the two, is still a little lethargic as her body works hard to recover. She is being closely monitored and given all the care she needs to regain her strength.
Tammy, meanwhile, is beginning to show us glimpses of the bright little lamb she is becoming. Each day she grows a little stronger, enjoying the comfort of regular feeds and the safety of a place where she is finally cared for.
Their journey is only just beginning, but one thing is certain, they will never again be alone on that road.
