Our organisation does not have a sanctuary so relies on people who can be lamb foster carers for the first 8 – 9 weeks until the lambs are weaned. Download our free Caring for Young lambs booklet and read the Foster Care FAQs.

Anyone wishing to foster lambs must be 18 years old or over. I therefore confirm that I am over 18 years of age*

Lambs are fostered in pairs who, if newborns, will for the first few days require 2-3 hourly feeds. Following this feeds will then extend to 4 hours, 5 hours and after the 2nd week will settle to 4 x 6 hourly feeds.
Lambs can be unsettled when they first arrive. It can take 24-48 hours for them to settle and they can be quite vocal during this time. With an understanding of this are you still prepared to foster?*

Do you have a suitable indoor area for the lambs who will, particularly for the first few weeks, spend a lot of their time indoors.*
