Sometimes miracles happen and Lolly’s story is one of just such a miracle.
Late last week, a car was travelling behind a truck full of sheep on its way (we presume) to a slaughterhouse. Slowing to stop at the exit of the freeway, the people in the car saw a little white bundle appear through the slats in the side of the truck. To their amazement, a lamb fell out and onto the road. The truck continued on its way oblivious to the load it had just lost. The people in the car pulled over, thinking the worst for this small baby, and quickly hurried to assess the situation. They could hardly believe their eyes when the little lamb gingerly stood, looked around and let out a gentle baa. Knowing nothing about how to care for lambs, they scooped up the dazed but unharmed animal, bundled her into the car and began the search for who to contact. Luckily for little Lolly they found our details and the rest is history.
Lolly is a gentle little lamb with a soft baa and a shy personality. She is healthy and quickly took to her bottle. Although we cannot help but think of Lolly’s poor mum on the truck, we are so relieved that her baby’s fall did not happen at high speed but instead when the truck had slowed down. Lolly is now safe in care and will soon go to her foster home.
Not long after the arrival of Lolly, a new friend was found for her. Naturally his name is Pop! 🥰 In contrast to the shy Lolly, Pop is outgoing and full of energy. He has taken his gentle friend under his wing already and the 2 are never far from each other. Pop was surrendered into our care after his mum suddenly died. With both lambs having recently lost their mothers, they need a lot of TLC. This is something that is never in short supply from our LCA carers!
Later in the year this lovely duo befriended a new arrival, Beatrix and the trio have been inseparable since.
