3 month old Poppet arrived into care unable to use her back legs. She was taken straight to Romsey Vet where X-rays showed Poppet had a malformation in her the neck. Although we are uncertain as to whether this is a congenital birth defect or traumatic injury from birth, we do know that compression on her spinal cord is causing her ataxia (a condition that affects muscle control and coordination).
Poppet weighed just 800g and has fought for survival from the beginning. She is a strong willed and determined little lamb. When presented with a wheelchair Poppet was off, undeterred by the occasional fall. She was so excited to be up and moving that nothing could stop her. When her carer would try to take her out of the chair for a rest, Poppet would baa in such a loud and cranky manner that she would get put back in her wheels. After just a few days and Poppet had made the wheelchair her own. She keeps up with her friends Bluey, Bingo and Button who love her dearly. Poppet adores eating and can often be found with her head buried in a bale of oaten hay munching away happily. The wheelchair has completely changed her life and she is loving every minute of it.
