Jingle Bells arrived just in time for Christmas after being rejected by her mother. Hungry and alone, our friends at Free Spirits Farm Sanctuary rushed to her aid and cared for her until she could be transported to Melbourne. Jingles was very bright and drank her bottle enthusiastically on arrival and was healthy apart from a mild case of Entropian (https://lambcareaustralia.org.au/entropian-in-lambs/) that started to correct itself within a few days. Jingle Bells loves her bottle and using her long legs to her advantage to gain access to her favourite place to sleep – the couch.
Dasher came into our care via Vic Lamb Rescue who treated him over several days for severe pneumonia. Our carer took him to one of our vets where an xray showed that his lungs were in bad shape. Dasher was treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and appeared to be progressing well. Suddenly, his temperature spiked at 41.2 degrees and his breathing became very laboured. Dasher was started on a 2nd course of antibiotics and recommenced anti-inflammatories. Poor little Dasher declined further so was admitted to hospital for further treatment and also received a plasma transfusion. It was touch and go for little Dasher for a while there but things slowly took a positive turn for him. Dasher was eventually able to maintain his body temperature and became excited for his bottles instead of needing to be tube fed. His lungs slowly improved and as did the hacking cough. It was such a relief for us to see this little boy return from an illness that could easily have taken his life.
