Forrest arrived into our care back in August of last year. He was born with severely contracted tendons in his front legs. Due to his age, straightening them was not possible as it often is for younger lambs. Surgery was also not a viable option for this dear lttle boy.
Forrest was adopted into the wonderful sheep family at Shear Existence. He settled in so well to his new home and is a very much loved member of their animal family.
The weekend was a very exciting time for Forrest. He was finally fitted correctly for his knee casts. The next step is the making of his prosthetics that will be fully equipped with poles and feet to boost him up to an even height so his front matches his bum. They will also take pressure off his joints and knees, along with relieving strain from his spine.
We are so grateful to the wonderful people at Shear Existence Sanctuary who have provided such a loving home for Forrest. In their words “Forrest is just the sweetest most trusting boy. Although he was a little nervous, he allowed us to do what we needed to do and very much earned his big bowl of treats afterwards.”

Forrest is an 8 week old merino who is tiny for his age. He unfortunately has some kidney issues and his front legs are very contracted. As a result he moves about on his knees. Forrest has already undergone many tests including xray, blood work and fecal examinations. So far he is doing well in care and putting on desperately needed condition through good nutrition. We are doing physio on his legs multiple times a day and will splint them as well. Forrest is a dear little lamb who just loves a head scratch.
In November 2021, Forrest was adopted by the wonderful people at Shear Existence who say he has “adapted and continues to be a kind soul with a zest for life, such a happy little man.”
