Get to know more about Tarik

27 December 2023

This lovely merino ram was surrendered to LCA via the Surf Coast Shire Council. Now known as Tarik, he will be desexed as soon as possible and then placed in the loving forever home that we have arranged for him. Tarik is understandably very timid, but we are sure with the help of a few weetbix and other treats, he will begin to trust his new carer in no time.

The magnificent Merino ram Tarik, who we were contacted about last week, is one step closer to being part of his new forever home and to meeting his other sheep friends. Today he was collected by his new carer and taken to their home. Tarik was going to be castrated but, on the recommendation of his vet, he will be given a vasectomy instead. Performing a full castration on an adult ram is too risky so, for Tarik’s welfare, the safer option has been decided on. For now, Tarik will be isolated from his soon to be friends but in no time will be out amongst them in the paddocks of his new home.

Tarik’s vasectomy went without a hitch and he is recovering well with his new human carer. He will remain in isolation for a little while longer but then will be allowed out with his new flock.
