Yoghurtised Milk

 

 

Why Yoghurtised Milk?

All Lamb Care Australia lambs must be on yoghurtised milk as it almost totally removes the risk of abomasal bloat by taking away the lactose which causes a bloat episode. It is an easy process that, so long as you are organized, will not be difficult. The following measurements will make 4 litres of milk. Halve quantities to make 2 litres. 

We currently use Maxcare milk powder so the instructions below are for that brand. If you are using a different formula, please follow the directions on the packet to get the correct powder amount. 

 

Instructions

1. Wash your tub in warm soapy water and dry

2. Measure out 720g milk powder

3. Measure out 200g natural yoghurt

4. Put 2 litres of very warm tap water in the tub

5. Mix in milk powder then yoghurt

6. Put the lid on the tub

7. Place in a bag or box with 2 hot water bottles


8. Leave for 10 to 12 hours


9. Remove 200 ml yoghurt which will be used for your next batch


10. Add 2 litres cold tap water and mix


11. Store milk in airtight containers

 

Yoghurtised milk can last up to 5 days in the fridge
You can serve cold or at room temperature
