Lamb Foster Carers

Our organisation does not have a sanctuary so relies on people who can be lamb foster carers for the first 10 – 12 weeks until the lambs are weaned. Download our free Caring for Young lambs booklet and read the Foster Care FAQs.

If you are then interested in fostering lambs and meet the requirements described, please complete the application form below.

Lambs are fostered in pairs who, if newborns, will for the first few days require 2-3 hourly feeds. Following this feeds will then extend to 4 hours, 5 hours and after the 2nd week will settle to 4 x 6 hourly feeds.
Each lamb will require a lamb jacket for the length of their foster period. You are welcome to purchase your own jackets. Alternatively, LCA can supply you with 2 jackets of different sizes for each lamb. In this case, a deposit of $10 per lamb is required. This will be refunded when the jackets are returned to the organisation.
